Success at the IAEA International Student Competition: Hungarian team among the best five from all over the world

To foster the younger generation’s interest in nuclear science and technology, the IAEA has held an international student competition in conjunction with the Third International Conference on Human Resource Development for Nuclear Power Programmes in the Republic of Korea, from 28-31 May 2018.

Quadrilateral Meeting at the HAEA

The annual quadrilateral meeting of the Czech, Hungarian, Slovak and Slovenian nuclear regulatory authorities was held at the HAEA, in Budapest from 3 to 4 May 2018. The parties described the most important events at their respective authorities and the regulatory work related to existing and new NPP’s since their last meeting in 2017.

Having considered the information provided, the Commission was unable to indicate any reliable hypothesis of the Ru-106 origin within the investigated activities in the field of the atomic energy use. At the same time, the conclusion that Ru-106 had no influence on public health was confirmed.
VVER Regulators’ Forum PSA Working Group Meeting in the HAEA

From 17th to 19th of April 2018 the kick-off meeting of the 5th mandate of the PSA WG (Probabilistic Safety Assessment Working Group) of the VVER Regulators' Forum, which compresses the nuclear safety authorities of countries operating VVER type reactors was taken place at the HAEA headquarters in Budapest. This PSA WG is currently chaired by Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority and its major goal is to compare and assess the legal and regulatory framework as well as the national regulatory practices in the field of PSA at the member countries, in order to provide recommendations for the members to amend and improve the supervision and insurance of nuclear safety in the member countries.
