On the initiative of Hungary a review about the entire national nuclear regulatory infrastructure for safety and security will be conducted by international experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the framework of an Integrated Regulatory Review Service Mission (IRRS) in May, 2015. The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) preparing for the review submitted an advance information package to the IAEA in the first week of April, 2015. On this occasion Dániel Nyisztor, the project manager of the IRRS was interviewed about the relevance of the IRRS Project, the tasks already fulfilled and the challenges still ahead.
After its successful audit, the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certification of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority is valid for another three years. The HAEA staff has been preparing itself for the audit for several months revising and updating all the processes, workflows and the quality management document of the organization.
Following the publication of the latest service data of Paks Nuclear Power Plant the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority has made the most important operational indicators of the Budapest Research Reactor available on its website. The real-time radiation data delivered by measuring station in the vicinity of the Research Reactor are also made public.
On 20 February, Mr Kristóf Horváth, Deputy Director General of the HAEA and Chairman of the ENSRA (European Nuclear Security Regulators’ Association) met with his predecessor Mr Rony Dresselaers, Director of the Belgian Federal Agency of Nuclear Control (FANC) at the HAEA headquarters. They discussed plans for 2015 and ongoing matters.
