CTBTO Equipment Familiarization Activity in Hungary

Under the agreement of the Hungarian Government and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, Equipment Familiarization Activity took place from March 24 to March 28 2014 in Romhány. Three staff members and four surrogate inspector trainees from training cycles of the Commission participated in the five-day event.

The Sixth Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety will be held from 24 March to 4 April 2014 at the IAEA Headquarters, in Vienna, Austria. Contracting Parties are obliged to report on the measures taken to implement each of the obligations of this Convention every third year.

Visit of Uzbekistani inspectors at the HAEA

Two inspectors of the State Inspectorate on Supervision of Geological Study of Depth, Safety in Industry and Mining responsible for safety use of ionizing radiation arrived in Hungary on 03.02.2014 with the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority prepared a 10 days long program for them. Within its framework, moreover, they got acquainted with the regulatory review of the Periodic Safety Assessment Review (PSAR) of research reactors and the Hungarian regulatory practice on safeguard of radioactive material.

Regional Workshop on Nuclear Security Culture in Practice in Budapest

The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority hosted a Regional Workshop on Nuclear Security Culture in Practice that was held by the International Atomic Energy Agency in Budapest, Hungary, from 18 to 20 February 2014. The purpose of the workshop was to provide a basic awareness and understanding of nuclear security culture to ensure effective nuclear security measures which are able to prevent and combat threats.
