On 20 February, Mr Kristóf Horváth, Deputy Director General of the HAEA and Chairman of the ENSRA (European Nuclear Security Regulators’ Association) met with his predecessor Mr Rony Dresselaers, Director of the Belgian Federal Agency of Nuclear Control (FANC) at the HAEA headquarters. They discussed plans for 2015 and ongoing matters.
In January 2015 four experts of the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (BNRA) led by Ms Krasimira Ivanova paid a one-week scientific visit to the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA) supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As part of the program HAEA professionals gave them an overview of the organization, implementation and review of trainings and exercises related to emergency preparedness and response (EPR).
Many journalists have been enquirer to attend the press conference held at the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority to launch the year of 2015. Mr Gyula Fichtinger, Director-General of the HAEA emphasized the particular importance of openness and transparency in regulatory activities and said that the nuclear regulatory authority is making significant efforts to that end. Among other things, public hearings and an open day are held, conferences are organized and from 2015 the Authority also has its Facebook page.
The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority has made the most important operational indicators of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant available on its website. The real-time radiation data delivered by measuring stations in the vicinity of the power plant are also made public.
