The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority,
as designated by Article 17 (2) of the Atomic Act, is the competent authority
in procedures assigned to regulatory competence by the stipulations of
the laws and international agreements on the transport of dangerous goods.
The relevant recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency
written in IAEA Specific Safety Requirements No. SSR-6 (Rev.1) (Regulations
for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material) serve as a basis for the
requirements of the international mode-specific agreements, of which Hungary
is a member, for the transport and packaging of radioactive materials.
Consequently, the requirements apply to various transport modes show major
similarities.
Prior to submit an application for licensing a transport
or a package design, the below guidelines are recommended to be studied:
