The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority held the ENSRA annual meeting and seminar

The European Nuclear Security Regulators' Association (ENSRA), decided on cooperation with the Western European Nuclear Regulators’ Association (WENRA) on the annual meeting, held between 30th September and 2nd October, and approved the new website, created under the Hungarian chairmanship, to be public.

The HAEA joined the ENSRA in 2009, and this year the Chairman of the Association is Mr Kristóf Horváth, Deputy Director General of the HAEA. The annual meeting was held between 30th September and 2nd October in Budapest.

On the three days long session the member states presented the last year’s improvements, incidents and achievements related to nuclear security. They also shared their experiences on the physical protection of nuclear facilities and materials.

One of the highlighted topics was the WENRA-ENSRA cooperation: in the future the two chairmen will take part in the other association’s annual meetings, to strengthen the common work in nuclear safety and security regulators.

The Hungarian chairmanship introduced the new ENSRA website, which was approved by the members and it is going to be available on address. The seminar’s presentations were held about current topics like cyber security, transport security of the nuclear materials, insider threat, security exercises and the threat caused by drones.

On the last day the participants visited Paks Nuclear Power Plant, where the representatives of the NPP presented the physical protection system that was followed by a field trip.
