The Joint 8th and 9th Review Meeting of the contracting parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS) was held in Vienna from 20 to 31 March 2023. Hungary was represented at the two-week meeting by delegates from the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Energy, MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. and Paks II Ltd.

IAEA Board of Governors meeting in Vienna

The spring meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors took place in Vienna from 6 to 10 March 2023. Among the main topics of the meeting were the Nuclear Safety and Security Review, the Nuclear Technology Review of 2023, as well as a report on the nuclear safety situation in Ukraine, the Safeguards Agreement in Iran and the implementation of the NPT in the Syrian Arab Republic.

IAEA Director General’s visit to HAEA

On 22 February 2023, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi paid a visit to Budapest and was received by President Andrea Beatrix Kádár at the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority. During the meeting, the two leaders among other topics exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and discussed the Paks II project.
