At the beginning of March, the delegation of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK) - led by the President, Mr. Dr. Zafer Demircan - paid a visit to Hungary.
During their program in Hungary,
the delegation first had a consultation in Paks II Ltd’s office in Budapest,
then they visited the Radioactivate Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility
at Püspökszilágy where they received detailed information on its
operation. The Turkish experts visited the Paks Nuclear Power Plant,
the Maintenance and Training Center and the Interim Spent Fuel Storage
Facility in Paks.
The delegation was received
by Mr Szabolcs Hullán, Deputy Director General of the Hungarian Atomic
Energy Authority on the last day of their visit.
HAEA experts held several
presentations about the activities of the Authority, the new Nuclear Power
Plant project, the licensing process related to the new NPP, the national
nuclear emergency response system
and the regulatory experience on audit and inspection practice.
The Head of the Turkish
delegation presented their legal and institutional framework, and gave
an overview on the regulation of manufacturing and construction activities
and the current status of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project.
