On 1st March Unit 2 of Paks NPP was operating with reduced capacity for a short time

2017.03.03

On 1st March, due to the automatic activation of the safety system, the MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant operated with reduced capacity. The safety of the unit has not been compromised.

The capacity of Unit 2 fell to 70%, because a main circulation pump was out of service after a false alarm of high temperature on its cooling circle. After checking the safety systems, the unit was restarted and since then, it operates safely at its nominal power level. The Nuclear Power Plant informed the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority about the capacity reduction, and HAEA closely followed the half-day procedure.
