Hungary applies for hosting the ConvEx-3 Exercise

In 2017, the International Atomic Energy Agency is planning to conduct a large-scale Level 3 Convention Exercise that is based on a scenario involving a severe nuclear emergency at a nuclear power plant. Based on the strong commitment and support of the main partner organizations of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority, expressed by the Director General of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management and of the Director General of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant Hungary applies for hosting the ConvEx-3 (2017) Exercise.


The purpose of the exercise is to allow States and relevant international organizations to test: the response during such an emergency, including the exchange of information on the emergency at the national and international level; the conduct of assessment and prognosis; the provision of international assistance; and the coordination of public information.

The international part of the exercise will be based on a national exercise and carried out in coordination with the IAEA Secretariat, neighbouring countries and relevant international organizations.
