In preparation of the third CTBTO Integrated Field Exercise in Sri Lanka in 2025, Hungary hosts a three week long build up exercise from 16 June, 2024 in close cooperation with the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority.

The CTBT is an essential component of the international nuclear arms control and disarmament framework, aimed at stopping nuclear weapon tests and the development of nuclear weapons.

Upon entry into force of the Treaty, State Parties will have the right to request an On-site inspection to determine whether a nuclear test explosion had taken place. In order to prepare for such a large undertaking, the CTBTO regularly holds large scale, Integrated Field Exercises to test operating procedures, search logic and equipment in an integrated manner.

Preparations for the Integrated Field Exercises are carried out using smaller scale, build up exercises, focusing on particular inspection activities.

The three week long exercise held in Gyöngyös, Hungary between 16 June and 6 July will provide a setting for participants to test not only their theoretical knowledge but will be afford opportunities for conducting various field tests.
