VVER forum in Budapest

The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority hosted the meeting of the VVER Forum PSA Workgroup in Budapest between 8th and 10th of March HAEA delegate was elected as the new chairman of the Workgroup.

The meeting participants were PSA experts from the nuclear safety authorities of the countries operating VVER type nuclear power plant (Paks NPP in Hungary is of the same design). The purpose of the meeting was to determine „best practices” through the data collections of the comparison of the national frameworks. The meeting focused mainly on the lessons learned from the Fukushima accident, the extreme external event analysis and assessment, the maintenance effectiveness monitoring and the risk informed decision making and inspections. During the meeting the participants voted for the new chairman of the Workgroup and as a result of it they requested the HAEA delegate to take the position.
