Hungary will host the Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) Mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in October 2025. During this mission, IAEA will assess the compliance of Hungary’s regulatory framework – overseeing the peaceful use of atomic energy – with IAEA Safety Standards. As part of the preparation, a meeting was held on 23-24 April 2025 at the headquarter of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA). The meeting was attended by leaders of the IRRS mission team, and representatives of the IAEA, HAEA, Baranya County Government Office, National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy and Ministry of Energy.
Ms Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President of the HAEA opened the meeting, emphasizing Hungary’s unwavering commitment to continuous improvement of the regulatory oversight activities.
On the first day of the event, the delegated experts of the IAEA presented in detail the conduct of the IRRS mission, while the Hungarian participants gave an overview of the national legal and regulatory framework on the peaceful use of atomic energy as well as on the preliminary results of the self-assessment completed in preparation for the mission.
