Unit No. 1 back online in Paks NPP

As it was communicated by the HAEA on July 14th, the unit No. 1 of the Paks NPP was shut down due to a malfunction in the instrumentation and control equipment - as intended in the plant design and according to the nuclear safety regulations.

This event did not require the automatic activation of the safety systems and safety of the unit was not compromised. Clarification of the malfunction and its repair as well as the return of the unit to operation was executed under the regulatory supervision of the HAEA. The failed on Thursday instrumentation and control equipment was replaced and all safety checks were executed in accordance with the prescriptions. This way it was verified that the unit could be restarted and safely operated on its nominal power. Since 14:20, July 15th, 2016 (local time) the unit is producing power by nominal capacity.
