Approval of the planned activities of the Public Agency for Radioactive Waste Management for 2004

The Minister responsible for the disposition of the Central Nuclear Financial Fund, the Minister of Interior has given approval of the planned activities of the Public Agency for Radioactive Waste Management (PURAM) for 2004. The most important items of the activities include: - Reevaluation of the safety of the existing Püspökszilágy repository for low and intermediate level radwaste. - Subsurface geological research work to establish a repository for low and intermediate level radwaste generated from the NPP. - Enlargement and restoration of the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility at the Paks site. - Research program to establish an underground laboratory for high level radioactive waste. - The operation of the storages and the PURAM. The budget of PURAM for the planned activities is 9,7 billion Ft. (38 million EUR) in 2004.
