The aim of the INSSP is to asses and evaluate a country’s nuclear security regime through 6 modules: legislative and regulatory framework, threat and risk assessment, physical protection regime, detection of criminal and unauthorized acts involving material out of regulatory control, response to such acts, sustaining a nuclear security regime. Based on the reviews the IAEA and the country can decide on the next period’s tasks and the scope of international support.

Hungary has joined the INSSP in 2018 and the review mission evaluated the work done since then. The international experts assessed, that Hungary has a well-built nuclear security regime. During the next 4-year period, Hungary should work on national cooperation and the sustainability. These recommendations will be included in the mission’s final report.
