After the Fukushima accident, the Council of the European Union ordered to carry out a comprehensive safety reassessment of the NPPs in each of member states.
The widespread name of the review is “stresstest”, while its official remark “Targeted Safety Reassessment” (TSR). The TSR of Paks Nuclear Power Plant revealed several opportunities to enhance safety margins. The European Union declared, it wanted to follow up in each of the member states the carrying out of the corrective actions resulted from the stresstest. Therefore, following the decision of the advisory body of the European Commission (European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group), each of the countries compiles a National Action Plan and submits it to the European Commission until December 31, 2012. The National Action Plan of Hungary has been prepared on December 12, 2012. It discusses the safety enhancing actions, having been decided and related to the external (natural) impacts, design questions, as well as in-site accident management and recovery and their implementation deadline.
