Expert consultation with the nuclear safety authority of the Republic of Belarus

During the consultation HAEA experts shared their experience on the supervision of operating nuclear power plants, whilst GAN experts showed their supervision experience regarding the Astravets Nuclear Power Plant construction project. The Astravets units employ the same Russian designed AES-2006 reactor technology as the one proposed for the Paks new build project.

The meeting included a site visit to the Astravets Nuclear Power Plant construction site, where HAEA experts received detailed information on GAN’s on-site supervision practices.

Topics for further bilateral meetings have also been discussed.
